Empire State Lyric Theatre www.empirestatelyrictheatre.org
Empire State Lyric Theatre (ESLT) was founded in 2006 by a group of music and business professionals with a common interest in providing Rochester with extraordinary musical evenings. ESLT Executive Director (and fabulous soprano) Susan Cotroneo and Artistic Director Raffaele Ponti believe that music should be enjoyed by everyone, and their organization’s mission is to offer musical events that provide world-class performances in a festive, social atmosphere.
ESLT contacted Sally in advance of its June 2010 in-concert production of L’elisir d’amore with the RPO at Kilbourn Hall. The partnership was so successful that she’s promoting the company’s exciting 2010-2011 season, which began with Die Fledermaus (featuring the debut of the ESLT Children’s Choir) at Hochstein Music Hall in November and the Jonathan Angelone Memorial High School Vocal Competition at School of the Arts in January. Next came a “first look” at Lily, a Musical Portrait by Rochester composers Amanda Jacobs and Lindsay Warren Baker (writers of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, the Musical) in March at the Memorial Art Gallery -- part of Eastman School's Women in Music Festival.
Next up is Opera at the Arena: Pagliacci at the Blue Cross Arena with the RPO on May 13 at 8 p.m. With the Philharmonic and a cast featuring Italian baritone Ettore Nova, the ESLT Children's Choir and an adult choir, the arena will be filled with song! In addition -- as is ESLT's tradition -- a fabulous, pre-concert reception featuring champagne, hors d'oeuvres and a special presentation by PUSH Physical Theatre begins at 6:30 p.m. Ticket and more info at www.empirestatelyrictheatre.org.
