Dr. Philips

Ellie Phillips, DDS

Ellie Phillips, DDS, has made it her life's mission to empower and educate dental patients and professionals about dental disease and how to prevent it. That's why the Rochester dentist has written Kiss Your Dentist Goodbye, and why she's a passionate advocate for the daily use of a naturally-occurring sweetener called xylitol (pronounced ZIE-lih-tol).

Dr. Ellie, as she prefers to be called, created her own brand of 100% xylitol mints and gum, called Zellies, out of necessity, although xylitol has been used as a public health measure for decades in many countries.  (In China, for example, you'll find xylitol gum at any Wal-Mart checkout.)  It may not be in U.S. Wal-Marts yet, but Wegmans stores began carrying Zellies in 2008 in their Nature Marketplaces, and the well-known Michigan-based Meijer hypermarket chain has ordered Zellies for each of its 190 stores.  She's also devised a complete at-home oral health system using commonly-available products.

Dr. Ellie is proud to be a founding member of a brand new organization called the American Academy for Oral Systemic Health (AAOSH,, which held its first organizational meeting on October 15 & 16 in Madison, WI.   Sally Cohen PR wrote and distributed the groupís first national release, which was picked up internationally.
